The reason behind Suzanne Somers' passing: What was the actress's cause of death, occurring just a day before her birthday?

Hollywood is in mourning over the loss of the beloved actress Suzanne Somers, who succumbed to her years-long cancer battle just one day prior to her 77th birthday.

The confirmation of her passing came from her dedicated publicist, R. Couri Hay, who revealed that Suzanne peacefully departed at her home on the morning of October 15.

During her final moments, Suzanne was surrounded by her devoted husband, Alan, her son Bruce, and close family members.

Suzanne Somers' Struggle with Cancer

Suzanne Somers was no stranger to adversity. She courageously confronted an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years, demonstrating incredible resilience and unwavering determination.

While her family had initially planned to come together to celebrate her 77th birthday, they now prepare for a private family burial, followed by a memorial service scheduled for the next month.

A dear friend of the "Three's Company" star revealed to Page Six that Suzanne passed away beside her husband, Alan Hamel, in their new environmentally-friendly "all-green home" in Palm Springs. Her final moments were spent in peaceful slumber, with her loving husband by her side.

This heartbreaking news follows just three months after Alan Hamel disclosed that Suzanne's breast cancer had returned. Throughout her life, Somers battled cancer, facing the disease since her 20s. She overcame skin cancer in her 30s and "two hyperplasia" in her 20s. Despite these relentless challenges, she maintained an indomitable spirit and an unwavering resolve to conquer every obstacle.

In an exclusive interview with ET in July, Suzanne demonstrated her unyielding determination, stating, "I've been living with cancer since my 20s. Every time that persistent adversary reappears, I do my utmost to repel it. I am committed to not allowing this relentless disease to govern my life."

She attributed her enduring strength to her family, especially her husband Alan and her children, who provided unwavering support throughout her decades-long battle.

Suzanne Somers' career was defined by her exceptional talent and unwavering spirit. She commenced her acting journey in the 1970s and achieved fame with her iconic portrayal of Chrissy Snow on "Three's Company" in 1977. Although her tenure on the show ended in 1981 amid a dispute with the network, she made a comeback to network television in 1991 with "Step by Step," where she played Carol Foster Lambert alongside Patrick Duffy.

In addition to her acting career, Suzanne gained renown as the spokesperson for the Thighmaster and authored a series of health and wellness books. She also made her mark on the dance floor when she graced "Dancing With the Stars" in 2015, partnered with Tony Dovolani.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Suzanne's personal life overflowed with love and family. Her first marriage was to Bruce Somers in 1965, from which she had a son, Bruce Somers Jr. After their divorce in 1968, she found her enduring love, Alan Hamel, whom she wed in 1977. Suzanne also embraced the role of a loving step-parent to Stephen and Leslie Hamel from her husband's previous marriage and cherished the title of grandmother to six beloved grandchildren.
